路傍の地蔵が道祖神との習合から立てられるようになったという通説の見直しを行った。地蔵盆で有名な京都に関しては、六地蔵参りの模倣として立てられたことを明らかにした。なお、地蔵盆には死者供養的面があり、これは道祖神信仰には見られない面である。京都に関しては、江戸時代では町境に立てられることも多かった、現在ではそうではない。 東京23区域では死者供養のために立てられたことが多いものを明らかにした。また、初期のものは、庚申信仰との習合が見られた。石川県金沢市では、江戸初期のものは、造 … 立理由不明だが、後には死者供養を目的とするものが幾つか見られた。<br />I look over again the accepted theory that images of Jizo on the roadside was made from combination with Dosojin. I considered the following three areas mainly. In Kyoto the images of Jizo on the roadside is famous for a-Jizo-bon. They were stoo as Kyoto-6-Jizo imitation. Jizo-bon aims at dead mass for the dead. In Tokyo's 23 Wards, they usually was stood for dead mass for the dead. In it I found out comibination them and Coshin. In Kanazawa-Shi, the reason why they were made is not known in the early Edo period.
