されている。留学生増員政策において先行するオーストラリアの大学の事例研究からは,留学生の経営的重要性が大きい地方の小規模大学において,高等教育の市場化・グローバル化が,大学における多文化主義の推進や,周辺地域におけるイスラーム理解・エスニック関係改善を導く事例が確認された。<br />There is a big difference in the religious services for Muslim students between Japanese and Australian universities. However, along with the glowing demographic diversity among its student body, Japanese universities are facing challenges concerning the policy on the relationship between religion and state, and the principle of distributing campus resources : equality, equity or need. Case study of Australian universities suggest that there is a possibility that the commercialization and the globalization of higher education could propel the multiculturalism on campus and the recognition of local Muslim community in the region especially in case of smaller universities located in smaller, less multicultural cities and towns.

は、香港・シンガポールのみであり、しかも限定的である。他のアジア諸国は、世界的な研究大学の設立よりも、独自の社会構造や経済発展、自国民の要請に対応した高等教育を優先している。そのため、アジアという枠で、一つの高等教育のモデルを特定することはできない。<br />The conditions of World Class Universities are set by American research universities with the recruitment of foreign talent, research investment, democracy, and international competition and cooperation. Such conditions, however, are partially met by Hong Kong and Singapore in Asia. Other Asian countries are more interested in the higher education system which meets their social systems, economic development and the demand of their locals.
