概要: Recent papers by the authors have demonstrated the potential for providing rate-of-current-change (dl/dt) and current limiting protection for voltage source fed circuits through the use of a composite magnetic device. The application of such a device is presently hampered by the limited choice of commercially available permanent magnet and low saturation flux density materials with square B/H loops. This paper examines the operation of the passive dl/dt or current limiter with a view toward specifying the desired geometric device profile and material characteristics. 概要: This paper presents a parallel computation model for the time-periodic nonlinear electromagnetic field analysis in the frequency domain using Harmonic Balance Finite Element Method (HBFEM). The proposed model, different from the traditional HBFEM technique that requires large memory and long CPU time, divides the global system matrix into a number of matrices in the frequency domain. Each computation unit has exactly the same number of elements and unknown values. The work involved in calculating the element matrices is equal, therefore the load can be well-balanced and the maximum speed-up will be M times if M processors are available (M is the number of harmonics considered in the electromagnetic field). 概要: The electromagnetic pump proposed by the authors is concerned with the magnetic shielding effect of eddy currents in a c onductive plate. In this paper we use FEM analysis to examine the shape of a copper plate for controlling eddy currents, and compare our findings with measured results. The proposed T-shaped plate improves shielding and reduces eddy-current losses compared with existing pumps. We also confirmed an improvement of the thrust force when used in a closed system for circulating a liquid alloy. © 1993 IEEE. 続きを見る

概要: Cancer is the most deadly disease in the world today. There is a variety of different treatment methods for cancer, incl uding radiotherapy and chemotherapy with anticancer drugs that have been in use over a long period of time. Hyperthermia is one of the cancer treatment methods that utilizes the property that cancer cells are more sensitive to temperature than normal cells. The control of temperature is an important task in achieving success using this treatment method. This paper reports the development of a novel needle-type nanosensor based on the spin-valve giant magnetoresistive (SV-GMR) technique to measure the magnetic flux density inside the body via pricking the needle. The sensor has been fabricated. The modeling and experimental results of flux density measurement have been reported. From the information of flux density, the temperature rise can be estimated to permit the delivery of controlled heating to precisely defined locations in controlled hyperthermia cancer treatment. 概要: This paper describes bare printed circuit board (PCB) inspection based on eddy-current testing (ECT) technique with high scanning speed. A high-frequency ECT probe composed of a meander coil as an exciting coil and the spin-valve giant magnetoresistance (SV-GMR) sensor was fabricated and is proposed. The ECT probe was designed based on crack inspection over flat surface, especially suitable for microdefect detection on high-density bare PCB. The ECT signal detected by the SV-GMR sensor was acquired by high-speed A/D converter for applying the signal processing based on digital technique. Harmonic analysis based on Fourier transform was used to analyze the ECT signal at fundamental frequency in order to increase inspection speed and this technique allowed the ECT probe to scan bare PCB, with high sampling frequency and with high-spatial resolution inspection. 概要: This paper reports on the development of a new horizontal-shaft hybrid-type magnetic bearing system. The bearing system will be used for a horizontal-shaft machine. The rotor is levitated due to the repulsive force between a stator and a rotor permanent magnet (PM). A lower cost and higher radial stiffness have been achieved by using a strontium-ferrite magnet on the rotor and an Nd-Fe-B PM above and below the rotor magnet. A finite-element analysis was performed to calculate the levitation force and radial stiffness. An upper stator magnet subtending an angle of 45° provides the best compromise between a large levitation force and radial stiffness. A model for the horizontal-shaft hybrid magnetic bearing system has been developed and includes the effect of the rotordynamics and the electromagnetic forces. An integral servocontroller was designed to stabilize the axial position. The controller has been implemented in a digital signal processor. 概要: Numerical modeling and analysis are effective techniques to assist in the design of high-frequency switching power suppl ies. Striving for high power densities and higher efficiencies has pushed the operating frequencies up, resulting in new circuit configurations and different component architecture. This paper presents a numerical method that is used to analyze magnetic systems for switching power supplies, in particular the switching resonant dc-dc converters. The method uses the harmonic balance technique combined with finite element methods and is referred to as the harmonic balance-finite element method (HBFEM). The HBFEM is used to solve various harmonic, eddy-current, hysteresis, and nonlinear problems applied to magnetic circuits used in switching power supplies. 概要: This paper presents a new 3-dimensional finite element analysis to ac electromagnetic machines with nonlinear magnetic characteristics in a steady state. The method enables us to calculate the time-periodic (non-sinusoidal) characteristics in harmonic domain. Unlike the field calculations in time domain, we can obtain only the steady-state solution directly. The application of the parallel processing to this approach is discussed. 概要: Static power converters are being used increasingly in power system applications. The power semiconductor switches within the converter systems must be rated to accommodate power system fault currents and system overvoltages. Significant cost reductions can be attained by reducing the magnitude of power system fault currents. In this paper we propose the use of a novel passive current limiter to accomplish this task. The limiter consists of two magnetic devices connected in series and in magnetic counter opposition to each other. Each magnetic device consists of three slices of NdFeB permanent magnet material sandwiched between the three end poles of two ferrite E cores. Experimental and finite element results are presented and are found to be in good agreement with each other. The need for 3D modeling in the future is demonstrated. The operating characteristics of the current limiter are experimentally verified using a scaled down version of a power system. 続きを見る

概要: A numerical method for solving electro-magnetically coupled problems with a magnetic nonlinearity such as hysteresis and eddy current is described in the form of matrix tableau equation, and its numerical procedure is shown. The method has been applied to a magnetic pulse compression (MPC) circuit, which is made of saturable inductors and capacitors, and is used to laser and particle beam accelerator power supplies. Taking a model circuit of two-stage MPC circuit, the dependency of capacitor ratio was estimated, and the influence of eddy current in the circuit has been demonstrated numerically. 続きを見る

概要: Repulsive type magnetic bearing consisting of permanent magnets (PM) and controlled current electromagnets have the advantages of less number of electromagnets and simplified control circuit compared to active magnetic bearing. The system is fundamentally unstable one and is very prone to disturbance. The shape and configuration of permanent magnet has a strong influence on the stability of the system. Two model of repulsive type magnetic bearing have been designed and fabricated in our laboratory. Repulsive forces and stiffness characteristics for different PM configurations have been studied and suitable configuration have been chosen. 概要: This paper reports on the development of a new repulsive type magnetic bearing system whose radial bearing section makes good utilization of the repulsive forces between stator and rotor permanent magnets resulting a simplified axial control scheme. The shape and configuration of permanent magnet is the most critical component for satisfactory operation of this type of magnetic bearing. In this paper, modeling of the permanent magnets has been done with the help of finite element analysis and the nature of the repulsive forces and stiffnesses are estimated along the three directions. Using the forces and expressing the rotor dynamics the issue of modeling a real physical repulsive type magnetic bearing system is discussed. 概要: We present an eddy-current test (ECT) method for detecting conductive microbeads on a non-conductive substrate. A Helmho ltz coil is used to generate an exciting magnetic field. The magnetic fields, generated by eddy-currents in a Pb-Sn microbead, are detected by a spin-valve giant magnetoresistive (SV-GMR) sensor. The experimental results are compared to an analytical solution for the magnetic field over the microbead. 概要: Miniaturization of electronic devices has making progress, resulting in smaller current flowing in extremely high-densit y LSI (large scale integration) or PCB (printed circuit board). However, measurements of such low local current have still been confronted with many difficulties because of the limitation on size of relatively large and cumbersome typical current sensors, lead to detecting general signals of a wide area. In this research, we propose the novel micron size and high sensitivity needle-type GMR probe in applications of non-contact measuring low currents coming from area narrower than 10-6 m2 with small signal crosstalk such as PCB current measurement and low bio magnetic signal detection. 概要: Giant magnetostrictive actuator has potential for producing a huge stress and minute stroke unlike electromagnetic actuators using electromagnetic force. We proposed the powerful generation of cavitation in water medium driven by the actuator. The collapse of cavitation generates pulse shock wave and also brings about radicals generating by addition of titanium oxide. The previous researches show the generation of cavitation and radicals based on the methylene blue test method, and the destructive influence of both virus and bacteria was recognized. The paper proposes a new apparatus of a circulation type system to aim the large capacity, and discusses the evaluation of sterilization and inactivation quantitatively. 概要: The remanence remaining in a volcanic rock is one of important measurement data in geophysics field. The sample of a rock has the remnant magnetization up to 10-9 T. Generally the remote magnetic fields measured by SQUID gradiometer presume the remanence of a rock as a sample. We propose a new methodology by measuring a magnetic field inside a cylindrical hole in the rotating sample. We could develop the simple measurement without shield system and high sensitivity sensor. The paper described the measurement system and the measured results of the rock. 概要: Induction heating type hyperthermia treatment, as one of cancer therapies, needs both high magnetic fields (> 2 mT) and a few hundred kHz inside of a body. We proposed the double-pancake type coil system sandwiching human body. The proposed exciting coils can generate magnetic fields with both magnitude and frequency required to a medical treatment, and also can adjust the distance between two flat coils according to the bodily proportions of a patient. In order to make magnetic fields inside a body further increase, a back yoke as magnetic materials is added to both coils. 概要: This paper has reported the performance of a tubular linear induction motor based on the principle of flux-concentration by eddy currents. In the developed Flux-Concentration type Linear Induction Motor (FCLIM) the key element is the conducting plate inserted between the exciting coils in each slot. In FCLIM the leakage flux is reduced and more flux is concentrated into the air gap . Thrust characteristics are compared using the equivalent circuit parameters and also verified experimentally. Some losses are occurred in the plate but the overall efficiency of the FCLIM is better at higher output force. 概要: Ferroresonance is a prolonged overvoltage condition that can damage transformers and other connected equipment. It can occur in the inductive voltage transformers as a result of the disconnecting of a busbar or a line section by opening circuit breakers equipped with grading capacitors. Ferroresonance creates highly distorted waveforms, which can cause abnormally high overvoltages. The level of overvoltages depends on the system parameters and the values of those parameters therefore need to be known. Such knowledge is possible either by means of practical experiments or by computer analyses. Due to the fact that it is not possible to do a lot of practical experiments in a real power system, the second possibility prevails. In this paper some outputs of analyses performed in the MATLAB and Simulink environment are shown and results are discussed. 続きを見る

概要: This paper describes high-speed printed circuit board (PCB) inspection based on eddy-current testing (ECT) technique. The proposed ECT probe consists only of meander exciter coil and multi spin-valve giant magnetoresistance (SV-GMR) sensor that it was designed for detection of microcrack on PCB surface. To conduct high-speed scanning, harmonic analysis based on Fourier analysis is applied to acquire ECT signal at fundamental frequency. 概要: This paper reports an analysis of errors formed during an inspection of printed circuit boards (PCB). A unique probe sui table for this inspection, has been fabricated. Although the probe has high sensitivity, there are some additional obstacles, which have to be overcome - signals' separation and removal of not constant offset voltage from the output signal. In order to avoid misinterpretations of the signal obtained, the phase characteristic has been taken into account. The data from the phase characteristic are combined with the data coming from the amplitude characteristic. Thereby, information about defects, obtained from phase characteristic, can be confirmed with the information about defects delivered by the amplitude characteristic. 概要: The main aim of this article is to present the possibility to estimate the content density of magnetic fluid in various shape cavities by SV-GMR needle type probe. Changes caused by the shape and amount of ferrite included in cavity were examined. Analytical model and numerical calculation were performed to confirm these results. 概要: Measurements of magnetic fields from nervous cells can transpire to be significant in not only diagnostics but also trea tment of neurological diseases. The sensor for nerve magnetic field measurements must be capable of detecting very low signals in order of Pico/Femto Tesla and the measurements must be as non-invasive as possible. For this purpose needle type spin valve giant magnetoresistance (SV-GMR) sensor was fabricated. Thin wire of 15 μm radius with supplied pulse wave was used as a model of the nerve. External magnetic field created by current pulses in the nerve model can be measured by touching the needle of the sensor to the model. The proposed sensor is much easier and better adjustable to surgical conditions than so far suggested measuring techniques utilizing super conducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs). 概要: This paper describes a static finite element model of magnetostrictive materials, considering magnetic and elastic boundary value problems that are bidirectionally coupled through stress and field dependent variables. 概要: Utilization of magnetic nanoparticles in biomedicine has seen an unprecedented growth in recent years. The ability to accurately estimate magnetic nanoparticles inside small areas of the body provides an advantage in hyperthermia therapy, a form of cancer treatment. This paper concentrates on a novel giant magnetoresistance (GMR) needle-type sensor to detect and estimate low concentration magnetic fluid inside minute agar cavities injected with magnetic fluid. Theoretical analysis, experimental results and information on the fabricated GMR needle-type sensor are reported. 概要: Like the generation of radicals by ultraviolet rays onto titanium dioxide (TiO_2), the irradiation of ultrasound in aqueous solution results in significant generation of radicals. The mechanism is that the ultrasound irradiation creates micro air bubbles as a cavitation and the collapse energy of the bubble contributes the generation of radical. Instead of the irradiation of ultrasound, we proposed a generation of air bubbles by the mechanical system drove by giant magnetostrictive actuator. 概要: Eddy currents induced on the surface depend on properties on near-surface of conductive materials and the arrangement between exciting coil, detecting sensor, and materials, as lift-off height and inclination. We apply the multi-sensor probe for the applications of eddy-current testing to detect the center of small round metal. The measurement system detects the magnetic fields around the round metal simultaneously and estimates the gap and direction of axis eccentric. 概要: Current suppression devices such as fault current limiter (FCL), which have high impedance under fault conditions and low impedance under normal conditions, are required to reduce excessive current in power distribution lines, when fault such as short circuits occurs in large scale electric power systems. In this paper, to establish practical design method of magnetic FCL, the design and the characteristics of a prototype magnetic FCL of 2kVA order are investigated. 概要: This paper presents the application of giant magnetoresistance (GMR) sensor for micro material detection. The proposed ECT probe was fabricated for detection of conductive microbead by spin-valve type magnetoresistance (SV-GMR). The four exciter coils (Helmholtz, ferrite core, flux concentrator and double spiral) were used to compare the conductive microbead detection of signals that were obtained from GMR sensor. Both of eddy-current testing (ECT) technique and static magnetic methods were applied to detect the ferromagnetic material. In addition, the two GMRs were used to detect the underground water velocity. 概要: This paper presents a new high-throughput magnetic separator for biomaterials labelled by magnetic beads. The separator consists of three rectangular coils, two circular coils, and a separation chamber. These instruments were designed by a numerical analysis of magnetic field and a movement of magnetic beads. 概要: Eddy-current testing (ECT) technique is a well-known methodology of nondestructive evaluation technique that is usually applied to inspect the material flaws without changing or altering testing materials. Generally, ECT technique is used as crack detection in piping systems of nuclear power plants and as an imperfect welding spot detection on aircrafts. The advantage of ECT technique is to highly sense material conductivity which depends on many variables such as material thickness, crack, aging and etc.. The planar exiting coil and the advanced magnetic sensor instead of the conventional inductive ECT probe enable us to invent the probe structure and its applications. The proposed ECT probe consists of a planar meander coil as exciter and spin-valve type giant magnetoresistive (SV-GMR) sensor. The utilization of SV-GMR as a magnetic sensor of ECT probe provides the feasibility of high-spatial resolution, high-sensitivity to low magnetic fields, and high operating frequency range. Due to the SV-GMR advantages, the inspection of micro defect and the detection of micro conductors can be performed by the proposed ECT probe. We call this system“μ-ECT ”. The advanced SV-GMR sensor improves the on-site ECT system in the previous metal inspection industry and also invents a new application in a different industrial field. We proposed the ECT system to the inspection system to electronic products, the PCB inspection system and the recognition of solder bead for ball-grid array package. Defects on high-density PCB are examined by ECT technique. The inspection evaluates not only imperfections of the PCB conductor but also PCB conductor dimensions and alignment. 概要: Eddy current probe to detect longitudinal discontinuities such as seams of wires and bars has been discussed. Conventional encircling coil is hard to detect the longitudinal discontinuities because of the fundamental principal restriction. Moreover, a system using a rotating probe hardly has an ability to support high-speed inspection. Therefore, a probe with array sensors has been developed to detect the longitudinal discontinuities without mechanical rotor. The spin-valve type giant magnetoresistance (SV-GMR) sensor was used as the detection sensor. It has advantages in high sensitivity, high frequency response characteristic up to 100 MHz, and the integration of the sensor element compared with coil or other magnetic sensors. The probe is constructed from two excitation coils and 36 detection sensors. The excitation coils are encircling type such as the conventional encircling coils and excited by opposite phase each other. The detection sensors are arranged in the directions of surrounding a rod for examination between excitation coils. The probe has the capabilities to detect the longitudinal notches by sequential scanning with detection sensors. In addition, a correction method for eccentric effect is proposed by taking the addition of signals at position of opposed sensor pair. The present study showed that the probe has the ability to detect the longitudinal notch that depth of 0.3 mm with 5 mm air gap. 続きを見る

概要: This paper has reported the development and performance of a flux-concentration type linear induction motor (FCLIM) utilizing the effect of flux-concentration by eddy currents. In the developed FCLIM, the slot-leakage flux is reduced and as a result more flux is concentrated into the air gap. The key element of the FCLIM is the conducting plate inserted between the exciting coils in each slot. Thrust characteristics of conventional tubular LIM and FCLIM are compared using the equivalent circuit parameters. Though some losses are occurred in the plate, the overall efficiency of FCLIM is better at higher output force. 続きを見る

概要: The effects of high magnetic field on Euglena gracilis Z were examined. When a horizontal magnetic field gradient (ca. 400 T2m-1) was applied, living E. gracilis moved to a higher field (positive magnetotaxis), whereas dead one gathered in a lower field. Magnetotaxis was not observed in a uniform magnetic field of 8 T. E. gracilis was oriented almost perpendicularly to the magnetic field regardless of life and death. Magnetotaxis of E. gracilis would be explained by taking into account inhomogeneous magnetic forces on and magnetic orientation of E. gracilis. 続きを見る

概要: This paper presents an image processing method for eddy-current testing for the detection of the defects with a specific orientation. The method utilizes the fact that a line-shaped signal is, through the Fourier transform, mapped onto a line passing through the origin and perpendicular to the orientation of the original signal. Hence, nonseparable fan filters is used to select the frequency components corresponding to the defects orientated in a Specific direction. This approach enables more precise control of the extraction characteristics of signals compared to the iterative application of one-dimensional (1-D) filtering in the vertical and horizontal directions, in which the shape of the pass band is restricted to a geometry made from squares. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by a demonstration using a metallic sample with a defect aligned in a number of directions. 続きを見る

概要: For the last few years the authors have been involved in the design and development of different topologies of magnetic current limiter (MCL). The small scale laboratory models have been fabricated and experiments were conducted. The simulated performance obtained from the tableau approach based on lumped parameter model shows discrepancy with the experiment. 概要: Responses of the small heat shock protein gene, hsp-16, were examined in transgenic Caenorhabditis elegans exposed to extremely low frequency magnetic fields (ELFMFs). Expression of the hsp-16-lacZ gene was enhanced when transgenic animals were exposed to magnetic fields up to 0.5 T at 60 Hz. The hsp-16 promoter was more efficiently expressed at the embryonic than at the post-embryonic stage irrespective of exposure. Promoter activity was more sensitive to the stimulus in the intestine at the post-embryonic stage. Evidence is presented that the induction occurs at the transcriptional step of hsp-16. 続きを見る

概要: A permanent magnet bearing (MB) system utilizing the repulsive forces operating between the stator and rotor permanent magnet for levitation and radial control has been fabricated in our laboratory, The consistency of the permanent magnet magnetization effects the continuous steady-state and dynamic performance of the system. Since both the magnets are repelling each other, there will be demagnetization of the magnetization of the permanent magnet. Due to demagnetization or ageing or manufacturing asymmetry, the field distribution may not be uniform along the periphery of the magnet. 概要: In this paper we propose a model to reproduce a PCS pattern eddy current testing signal based on 3D FEM package and scanning simulation. In this method we consider some common PCB elements as test pieces while a simple Meander-type coil is utilized as excitation coil above the elements. Numerical solution to the above problem with the help of a 3D FEM provides the magnetic flux density in the region above the PCB test elements. Shifting the test element's position step by step and repeating the numerical calculation for each of the test elements new positions, the scanning process of a PCB test piece is simulated. Analysing and smoothing the magnetic field data from all of the aforementioned steps provide the final PCB pattern signal. 概要: Anticancer drug treatments are accompanied with intense side effects. Because anticancer drug spreads in the whole body acts on not only the cancer cells but also normal cells. Therefore, if it is possible that magnetic fields enhance the potency of anticancer drugs on target region only, the dosage can be reduced and thus side effects can be suppressed. There are some reports that the potency of MitomycinC or Cisplatin with magnetic fields (50mT, 60Hz) were found to be higher than that of each agent only. This study focused on the effect of frequencies (6, 30, 60Hz) of the magnetic fields on enhancement of anticancer drug potency in same flux density (50mT). 概要: We propose a three-DOF spherical motor using magnetostrictive material (Galfenol). The motor consists of four U shape cores of Galfenol rods wound two coils, a permanent magnet, iron fixture, elastic ring and spherical rotor. Top of the rod is shaped step to exert torque. The magnetomotive force of the magnet provides bias magnetostriction for the rods and attractive force to maintain the rotor on the magnet. When opposite phase currents flow in coils of opposing rods, the torque for X or Y axes rotation is exerted on the rotor and the rotor is rotated based on smooth impact drive mechanism by saw tooth deformation of the rod, slowly expansion (contraction) and rapidly contraction (expansion) of the rods. On the other hand, when opposite phase currents flow in two coils of four rods, torque for Z axis rotation is exerted on the rotor by bending deformation of four rods. 概要: Induction heating type hyperthermia treatment needs both high magnetic fields (> 2 mT) and a few hundred kHz inside of a body to heat magnetic particles and implant materials up to 43°C. We proposed the double-pancake type coils sandwiching human body。 The exciting coils of human scale could generate magnetic fields with both magnitude and frequency required to a medical treatment. In order to make magnetic fields inside a deep body further increase, we proposed that a back yoke as magnetic materials was added to both coils. 概要: This research aims at realization of a battery free remote controller by switch type magnetostrictive-power generator using an iron-gallium alloy (Galfenol). The principle of power generation is based on parallel beam structure of Galfenol plate and yoke, by which input mechanical energy by pushing button is converted to electrical energy via free vibration. Our proposing controller consists of the generator, power conversion circuit (rectifier and capacitor), DC-DC converter and wireless module. In order to maximize the energy at the capacitor, the conversion circuit should be designed by considering equivalent model of the generator, coupling of mechanical and electrical circuit. We identified the parameters of the model by measurements of displacement and vibration, which the parameters were used to design the conversion circuit by LTSPICE, conventional circuit simulator. The combinations of capacitors in rectifier circuit providing the maximum energy at simulation and experiment were coincident, which verifies the validity of our design method. 概要: We investigate a L-shaped vibrational energy harvesting device using magnetostrictive material (Galfenol) for high output generation and efficiency. Galfenol is ductile magnetostrictive material with large inverse magnetostrictive effect. The device features higher output and efficiency compared with our conventional type. The device is a pair of L-shaped parallel beams consisting of Galfenol plate wound coil and stainless yoke and bias magnet. When a bending force is applied at the tip of the beam, bending moment is exerted on the Galfenol plate which yields uniform axial stress inside plate. Due to the inverse magnetostrictive effect, this stress causes flux change which time variation generates voltage on the wound coils. Prototype was verified maximum instantaneous power of 11.4W and maximum power of 0.1 J at a free vibration of frequency of 60 Hz. The output energy was increased from 20 to 30% compared with conventional type. 概要: In daily life, we often use earphone to listen sound and music. However kanal type earphone like earplug shape shuts off the sound of surroundings, thus, is not preferable to use in jogging or driving. Bone conductive speaker is alternative to hear sound from surroundings and player simultaneously. However conventional ones based on piezoelectric material or voice coil are large size, difficult to equip, and amplifier necessary due to the low output force. Here, we propose functional earphone using magnetostrictive vibrator. The device consists of magnetostrictive rod (Galfenol) and magnetic yoke constructing unimorph structure, winding coil, bias magnet and vibration plate. The ring shape vibrator with hole to pass air-conductive sound is easy to equip on ear hole and can generate sufficient sound without additional amplifier. This has generated some concerns over the effects that these fields may have on the outside environment and in particular on living organisms. 50/60Hz magnetic fields are of special concern because living organisms are exposed to them on a continuing basis.We investigate the influence of a strong 60Hz AC magnetic field of 1.2T on organisms. The high AC magnetic field is generated by using a multilayer eddy-current type AC magnetic generator developed in our laboratory. In this paper, in vitro experiments were performed with biochemical reactions, enzyme and restriction endonuclese activities.As a result, the magnetic field inhibited catalase activity slightly only in biochemical reactions. Other reactions such as β-galactosidase activity and restriction endonuclese activity were not influenced at all. The results suggest that high 60Hz AC magnetic fields may influence biological functions in some organisms. 続きを見る

概要: ミドリムシに対する強磁場の影響について研究した。生きているミドリムシは,水平方向の勾配強磁場(380T2m-1)中では,高磁場方向に移動する(正の走磁性)。一方,EDTAで殺したミドリムシは,低磁場側に集まった。8Tの均一磁場では走磁性は見 られなかった。強磁場中のミドリムシの顕微鏡観察の結果,ミドリムシは磁場とほぼ垂直方向に配向して泳ぎ,また殺したミドリムシも磁場配向していた。ミドリムシの正の走磁性は,ミドリムシの磁場配向とミドリムシにかかる不均一な磁気力の2つを考慮することにより説明された。 Effect of high magnetic field on Euglena gracilis Z was examined. Euglena was placed in a high gradient magnetic field (380 T2m-1). Living Euglena moved to higher magnetic field, whereas dead Euglena moved to the opposite side (lower magnetic field). From the in-situ microscope observation, Euglena was found to be oriented approximately perpendicular to the magnetic field regardless of life and death. Based on the above observations the mechanism of magnetotaxis of Euglena was discussed. 続きを見る

概要: 金沢大学理工研究域電子情報学系<br />The electromagnetic pump can transfer liquid metal in continuous close-circulating system. These pu mps have higher reliability comparing with mechanical one. These features make the attractive pump suitable for transferring liquid sodium in fast breeder reactor. But in conventional electromagnetic pumps, a large-sized pump means a larger magnetic circuit length, then leakage flux between the slots is increased and the efficiency is reduced. Therefore, for transferring liquid sodium, we have developed "Flux-Concentration Type Electromagnetic Pump" that employs the magnetic shielding effect of eddy currents. This paper discribed the dynamic characteristics of the flux-concentration type electromagnetic pump taking account of driving frequency by both experiments and FEM analysis. We constructed the circulating system for liquid metal to measure the dynamic chatacteristics of electromagnetic pump. In experiment, we used low-temperature melting alloy named "U-alloy47" instead of sodium. As a result, this pump produced the pressure about up to 1.3 times in all range of flow rate. We simulated the frequency characteristics for the width of conducting plate by FEM analysis. 続きを見る

概要: 金沢大学理工研究域電子情報学系<br />情報機器の分散化・マルチメディア化にともない、情報の融合化が進んでいる。一方、映像メディア機器を始めとする様々な機器は情報機器とは別の発達をしてきたため独自のインタフェースを有し、情報機器と情報を相 互にやりとりする場合必ずしも適切に機能しない。そこで、本文では情報機器の情報交換性を高めるため情報機器を入力機器、制御機器、演算機器、情報保存機器、出力機器等の単位機能に分割して、それぞれを自立させて利用できるようにするためのコミニュケーションインタフェースプロトコルについて一つの方式を提案する。 This paper presents a proposal of generalized interface protocol assigned on request for information equipment as the input unit, control unit, arithmetic unit, information saving unit, output unit and others with a serial port. This protocol has a facility of negotiation and communication with each others, and automatically an equipment is recognized on demand to use the interface by the unit equipment like as a keyboard, a keypad, a remote controller, and others. Especially its protocols realize multi-purpose of computer display easily. E.g., the display could be used by a keyboard, a remote controller, a demand pad, a remote PDA simultaneously using this protocol. 続きを見る

概要: This paper presents an image processing method utilizing the wavelet transform (WT) for the inspection of printed circuit board (PCB) by using eddy-current testing (ECT) technique. First, undesired components in the ECT image, which degrade the precision of the defect-detection, are removed through two types of filtering operations (based on frequency and amplitude, respectively) utilizing discrete WT. Considering that the ECT measurement is carried out horizontally, the proposed method applies WT only along that direction. Then, to estimate the existence and position of the defect, a correlation-based comparison is made between two images: the one is derived from a reference PCB (nondefect) and the other is from the tested object. The effectiveness compared with conventional approach and problem of the proposed method is investigated through examples of disconnection models. 続きを見る
