概要: Weave, yarn density, yarn count, fiber material and so on of woven fabrics greatly affect their surface characteristics. Surface characteristics of a fabric are important factor for consumers and textile producers in order to evaluate its fabric hand. However, there is no simple system to easily measure its surface characteristics. This study uses a simple tactile sensor that can measure the friction coefficients of fabric surfaces and tries to evaluate their surface characteristics from obtained values. We traced surfaces of plural fabrics that differ in yarn, weave and yarn density with the tactile sensor, and measured variation of the friction coefficients with respect to the trace distance. This study introduces some evaluation values from the measured variation of the friction coefficients and compares them with results by KES, which is the ordinary system to evaluate surface characteristics of a fabric. As a result, the study confirmed that proposed method easily evaluates the geometrical and frictional properties of woven fabrics as their fabric hand, and also can estimate the yarn density of woven fabric by analyzing the oscillation period of variation of friction coefficient. 続きを見る

概要: カーボン保護膜を有するめっきディスクとスパッタディスク試料に硬い球面及びフェライトとAl_2O_3TiCのヘッドを比較的低速ですべらせる実験を行ない、薄膜ディスクの基礎的な摩擦特性と損傷について調べた。摩擦係数μは一般に荷重に依存しないが、 0.01m/s以下の低速域では速度に依存し速度増加でかなり増加した。また、摩擦は潤滑液膜やテキスチャの存在によって影響されない。球面すべりで生ずる損傷は磁性膜の著しい破壊を伴い、摩擦を増加する。球面すべりから求められたカーボン膜のすべり接触部のせん断強さは150MPa前後であった。この値に基づいにヘッドのすべり接触は完全に弾性的と推定された。ヘッドを定速で回転するディスクに繰り返しすべらせるときのμとすべり回数Nの関係を、種々の表面状態を有するディスク試料について調べたところ、μは一般にN増加で増件するが、このμ増加は20nm前後のきわめて薄い潤滑膜によって抑制され、一方、テキスチャの存在によって容易に起り易いことが明らかになった。μはNが大きいときに1.0程度にも大きくなり得る。かかる大きいμ発生の原因の一つは潤滑膜のスティクション作用による場合である。ヘッドの繰り返しすべりによるディスク損傷はカーボンの薄い小片が付着して生じる光学的に黒い少数の微小領域であるにすぎなく、摩擦変化に対応するような機械的損傷は一般に生じない。摩擦変化の主原因は繰り返し摩擦におけるカーボンの変質と考えられるが、カーボンの摩擦耐久性はきわめて優れているといえる。繰り返しすべりにおけるμの変化は複雑であり、Nが大きいときに、N増加によって増加したμが、さらに繰り返しすべりを続けると減少して後、増加する場合も認められた。なお、CS/S繰り返しで生ずる低速域でのμの変化やディスク面損傷は定速繰り返しすべりにおけるμ変化や損傷と本質的に違わないことが明らかにされた。<br />Friction and damage were studied on plated and sputtered disks with carbon protective layers using hard spherical sliders and ferrite of Al_2O_3/TiC heads sliding against the disks at relatively low speeds. Coefficient of friction was generally independent of load, but increased with increasing speed at lower speeds less than 0.01 m/s. Initial friction was little influenced by coated lubricant and texture of disk surfaces. Sliding of spherical slider under high loads caused severe damage with fracture of magnetic layer which was did not the head. It was estimated that the shear strength for sliding contact of the sputtered carbon was about 150 MPa, leading that the contact between the head and the disk was purely elastic. The friction generally increased with an increasing number of head passes, but in some cases the increase was followed by a later decrease. A lubricant film a few nanometers in thickness was effective in suppressing the increase in friction with multiple passes. However, the texture normally used on thin-film disks tended to show increased friction with multiple passes more than did a smooth surface. Friction coefficient at a large number of the head passes was as large as 1.0 in some cases and one of the origin for such large friction was due to stiction of the lubricant film. A few sharp, but very small, damage areas were observed by optical microscopy on some disks after multiple passes of the head and these were thin carbon flakes on the disk surface. However, no mechanical damage clearly related to high frictuion after multiple passes was observed, indicating excellent durability of the carbon protective film.
